September TangoCoder Highlight

October 29, 2020 | Culture, TangoCode News

In July 2020 we started using a new SLACK integration called Taco. The SLACK app allows you to send a team member(s) a

and in doing so give recognition to that team member(s). We implemented Tacos as a way to improve recognition of exemplary performance and teamwork. With our transition to being remote-first, we wanted to ensure that we did not lose out on any opportunities for collective celebration and recognition of hard work. At the end of the month, all the Tacos are counted and the TangoCoder with the most receives a reward and is highlighted.

Our September Taco Winner is Daniel Vega!

  • Where were you born: I was born in Montevideo, Uruguay
  • Position in the company: Sr Software Engineer
  • When did you start working with TangoCode: December 2014
  • What is your favorite part of working at TangoCode: I like the culture and the atmosphere in the company, how people relate to each other even between different countries and cultures

What is your favorite project that you have worked on at TangoCode and why:

Each of the projects I have worked on in Tangocode helped me to gain knowledge about one thing or another but I think my favorite is PPE since it is in which I had to work on many technologies at the same time

What is your first memory of a computer?

When I was 8 years old, my father gave me an ATARI model 800XL computer with 64kb of RAM!. My friends used theirs to play games but I wanted to do other things so I went to an academy and there I took my first course in computer science which was Programming in Basic language

When did you know you wanted to be a software engineer?

I always liked doing things with the computer. When I finished high school I started working as a deejay (nothing further than the world of computers) ….. until a few years later I realized that what I wanted for my future was to become a professional computer scientist, so I took some courses related to programming, and then I started my engineering career.

What do you consider your greatest professional and your personal achievement?

Professional, the fact of being able to work what I like, constantly learning new ones, and applying them to projects. Personal, having been able to study engineering and finish it, since I had not been able to do it at the time when I finished high school.

What superpower would you like to have?

One that wife has but I do not as much, multitasking! 🙂
